Arizona Governor Janice K. Brewer appointed Daniel Bergin as Director of the Department of Gaming in December 2013. Mr. Bergin has been with the Department since 2009, acting as Interim Director since September 2013. He previously served as Deputy Director where he managed the Administration and Compliance Division. As Agency Counsel, Mr. Bergin was responsible for representation on issues concerning the Arizona Tribal-State Compact, gambling laws, and general litigation.
Prior to joining the Department of Gaming, Mr. Bergin served as an Associate General Counsel for Arizona State University and Assistant Attorney General for the Administrative Law/Civil Division. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance and Banking) from Arizona State University and received his juris doctorate from Arizona State University College of Law. Mr. Bergin has been licensed to practice law in Arizona since 1988.
