Tribal Contributions

Under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compacts, tribes with casinos contribute a percentage of their gaming revenue each year to the State, and to cities, towns, and counties. Each tribe reports its Class III Net Win to ADG on a monthly and quarterly basis. ADG audits the tribes' gaming revenues and contributions. Tribal contributions are distributed as follows:

  • 12 percent is distributed by the tribe to the cities, towns and counties of their choosing for community services and public safety programs for local governments.
  • The remaining 88 percent of the tribe’s total annual contribution goes to the Arizona Benefits Fund on a quarterly basis and provides funding for ADG and its Division of Problem Gambling. The remaining funds are directed towards instructional improvement for schools, trauma and emergency care, tourism, and wildlife conservation as detailed in the Tribal Contributions Distribution Flow Chart.

Under the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compacts, tribes that operate casinos contribute a percentage of their Class III Net Win to education, healthcare, and other programs that benefit Arizona residents.

Class III Net Win is the difference between gaming wins and losses before deducting casino operating costs and expenses. For Gila River Indian Community, Salt River Indian Community, Ak Chin Indian Community, Tohono O'odham Nation, or Pascua Yaqui Tribe, contributions are determined on a sliding scale based on the amount of the tribe's year-to-date Class III Net Win. Each tribe contributes:

  • 1 percent for its first $25 million;
  • 3 percent of the next $50 million;
  • 6 percent of the next $25 million; and
  • 8 percent of the Class III Net Win in excess of $100 million.

All other Arizona Tribes contribute 0.75% of their Class III Net Win.
